Here is your Presentation Evaluation Grade Sheet
Here is the evaluation criteria upon which you will be graded for your presentations:
Presentation Evaluation:How well did you cover each of the sections of your presentation (listed below), on the basis of these criteria:
a) depth of content (did you just cover it a little bit or a lot?)
b) accuracy (does your interpretation make sense? do you support with examples from story?)
c) evidence of research (use at least one scholarly print source, such as the Short Story Criticism or
Contemporary Literary Criticism books in our library, and one Internet source )
d) clarity and coherence (could we follow you? Were you organized? Did it make sense?)
e) interesting and entertaining (ie: talk to us and with us, don't just read notes)
1) Author's information (life and works):
Discuss the author's life, his or her literary career, and how these two intertwine as well as
how they affect your story in particular.
2) Social/historical/cultural context of story:
Discuss the context of the story and how the times in which it is written affects the author and the story.
3) Literary Elements:
See Literary Elements and your Jacobus text and class notes
for more information analyzing your story and its use of Literary Elements.
4) Critical Approach:
See Literary Theories and Chapter Thirty-Three of your Roberts and Jacobs text for more information on Critical Approaches. You may choose to use only one critical approach, or you may find that more than one applies.
5) Class Discussion:
Answer questions, ask questions, spark a stimulating class discussion on your story after your presentation.
